View BRIENMALONE's food & exercise for this day
I've hooked up with my trainer! Woo hoo!! She called me today and we've scheduled some time on Friday to get started. She's going to evaluate me -- see where I am physically and what I can handle. I'm very excited.
History
When we first started working together I was single and she had a 3 year old son. Her little boy is 8 years old now, and I've got a 3 year old son. It sounds like she is in school, too -- so I'm glad to see that we still have things in common.
Go?
Again - I'm interested to see if she has let herself go, too. She, like me, was 60 lbs overweight before she got into training. In about a year she was competing on stage. I don't think I was ever quite stage-ready, but she got me as close as I have ever been.
Looking Under the Hood
I did something today that I haven't done in a long time. I journaled my foods. Actually I reconstructed the entire day from memory. What amazes me is how off my foods are. I keep thinking that I'm basically eating the same good meals that I always have... but the truth is, I've started adding cheese and dressings to things, and instead of just eating my morning sandwich on whole grain bread, I eat that plus goldfish crackers, plus other junk.
I ate over 3000 calories today - and as I sit here in bed, I can tell that I could eat about 300 more calories to feel satisfied. I'm sure that I'm just extra hungry from the amount of exertion I put in yesterday.
I've also been very stressed at work lately -- and when I get stressed, I don't stop to eat. I didn't get around to lunch until 2:00pm... I usually eat at 1:30, but since I missed my morning snack, too, eating that late was a no-no.
So! What am I going to eat tomorrow?
1) PB&J on whole grain bread + 1 cup of milk.
2) apple + 1/2 cup of cottage cheese
3) 4 oz chicken + fibrous carb mix + potatoes + natural soup
4) apple + 1/2 cup of cottage cheese
5) a sensible dinner (whatever my wife decides to make)
and that is all. That is my food for the day. No more goldfish crackers... no more kirlkland signature animal crackers... no more sweets!
I could also use some time in the gym doing weight training... Time to hit the sack so I can get up bright and early in the morning!

Good luck with your trainer! And your healthy eating plans! It is so easy to start adding back the things that we are used to eating. "Our comfort foods"!
