Another great day on the island. I've been here 4 or 5 times since I've lived in California and in all that time I haven't done any of the "touristy" things that people do. It was actually a lot of fun going on the undersea boat ride and the inland tour. We even got a chance to see some of the island's elusive buffalo - no kidding.

I have most definitely NOT been good. *laugh* S'okay - gloves are off right now while we're on vacation. It's just for the weekend.
(I did weigh myself before we left and I maintained weight in spite of falling off track with calorie counts)

Novelty and Habit
Here is another angle on human nature that makes "cleaning up" so difficult. Novelty is what keeps people on a diet for the first few weeks. When you do something new, it's "interesting". The only way to keep momentum is to turn the novel things into habits.
Novelty can work for bad habits, too. When you cheat the first time (eat bad foods, skip a workout), the "novelty" of the act makes it stand out in your mind. You feel bad about it. Un...

Uh oh. Until this point I've had it pretty easy. My life was in a regular swing of reasonably predictable days and reasonably low stress levels... but this week, everything has been amped up and I'm not dealing with it the way I should.
Anniversary?
My wife and I just passed our 4th wedding anniversary yesterday. I say "passed" because we didn't really see each other all day. It's not SO bad... we've got great plans for this weekend. My wife is taking me out to eat at the rest...
