Had a great day today food-wise. My work-related training class ran super late, so I was starving when I got home, but I didn't let it derail me. I knew I was too hungry to wait until I cooked the multi-step, multi-ingredient healthy dinner that I had pre-planned and pre-logged, so I grabbed a pre-portioned baggie of pistachios out of the freezer and ate them to tide me over until dinner was ready. I then still cooked a healthy dinner, but a much simpler menu that was ready faster. My only regret is that I didn't realize that the pistachios would send me over my maximum fat percentage (30%) for the day -- in retrospect, I should have noshed on pure protein like HBE whites or natural deli turkey breast. Oh, well, a lesson learned for next time!
My late return from work also meant that I didn't make it to the gym, so I adjusted my evening snack plans accordingly so I wouldn't exceed my daily target.
When I first started CK (in late December 2010), I logged after the fact, often resulting in eye-opening revelations and gasps of horror when I realized exactly how many calories and/or how much fat I had just consumed. This week I've been logging each day in advance, allowing me to make adjustments as necessary when I see a potential landmine. SO much better this way -- why didn't I figure this out earlier?!?
Better late than never, right?
