View CALORIEHOLIC's food & exercise for this day

My motivational coach wants me to work on conscious choice-making this week -- consciously choosing to do things that will propel me towards my goals, and consciously choosing not to do things that will divert me from my goals and/or stall my progress. Fits right in with exercise and nutrition, doesn't it?

Today I chose to follow my pre-planned day of healthy eating. I chose to go to the gym this afternoon when what I thought I wanted to do was take a nap. I chose to plan ahead for tomorrow. I chose to call a friend and work through some emotional issues.

Today I chose not to play Spider Solitaire. I chose not to watch crappy TV (junk food for the soul). I chose not to derail my healthy dinner plans just because I was hungry. I chose not to let myself wallow in a pity party over the recent demise of my long-term relationship.

Thinking of every thing I do (or do not do) as a conscious choice makes me feel much more in control, which for me is good. I cannot control what happens to me, but I can control how I react to it.

Right now I'm going to choose a few other CK blogs to read for inspiration...

Spaghetti squash isn't hard at all. Search for it on here and you'll find a couple of threads. The big ones make enough for several meals. I've frozen it to use later. It obviously doesn't taste like spaghetti but is good with sauce. Kinda tastes like zucchini but in spaghetti form

Great choices and you are so right, we can control how we respond to a stimulus. And I find choosing to follow a pre-planned day of eating is surprisingly liberating; no energy is wasted agonizing over decisions as to what to eat to fill the void, and no energy is wasted on feeling guilty about making choices not in my health's best interest. I like Beck's response card: "I am choosing to say No Choice".:look:

I don't think I've ever won Spider Solitaire. I play it poorly.

Probably some stuff I watch on TV you'd consider crappy TV. No soaps!
