Suffering from a bad head cold or flu today, which luckily took away some of my appetite. Managed to modify the turkey chili recipe I've been using in a way that made it taste even better but be much lower in fat and calories -- basically, I added two extra cans of beans to the recipe. It already had red kidney beans, but I added a can of black beans and a can of white beans. I would have added garbanzo beans, too, had I had any around. As a result, I got more servings out of the same recipe and each serving had less fat because it had less meat. And did I mention how delicious it was? I topped it with some fat-free sour cream and dug in. Yum! I now have 14 more servings in the freezer for nights when I don't feel like cooking. OK, had better go try to sleep off this cold before tomorrow morning. Thank goodness for Nyquil!

I have a baked bean recipe that calls for 3 types of beans: pork, white and black and it is a huge fit at family BBQ.

I like ginger tea, myself when I'm feeling bad - slice fresh ginger into the hot water! Maybe add a little mint! Leftovers are terrific cold, too.

I love multi-bean chili - maybe next time leave out the turkey altogether! :smile1:

Hope you are feeling better soon! Would LOVE your recipe for turkey chili, sounds yummy, and how nice it would be to have that ready to thaw for dinner instead of the cottage cheese and veggies I am going to have because I failed to make a conscious choice to plan delicious, satisfying meals today. Traveling definitely upsets the routines, but I need to "stop the drama and take responsibility"!!!Going grocery shopping tomorrow morning after my oatmeal, flaxmeal, almond, blueberry, skim milk breakfast (at least I have everything on board for that - my favourite).
Try sipping on some hot water with a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey(scrap the honey if you want to avoid the sugar calories); remedy for cold/sinusitis recommended by excellent physician who is also trained in alternative medicine. Plus I am convinced that studies that showed the lemon juice is an appetite suppresant are accurate. think I'll enjoy a cup myself.
