I did it!

Sunday, July 24th 2011

Believe it or not, I actually made it through every single challenge this weekend, thanks to sticking to my focus on conscious choice-making. Saturday lunch (on the road trip) with my fried-food-loving friends went well: they had burgers and fries, but I thought about my long-term goals and went with a salmon salade nicoise. They stopped for cookies, but I resisted. They stopped for ice cream, but I resisted. Saturday dinner (at a tapas restaurant) I talked my friend (we were sharing plates)...

Hummus Can Hurt!

Saturday, July 23rd 2011

OK, made it through day one of the weekend (I'm counting Friday as day one, especially because I was off work yesterday). To be honest (since otherwise, what's the point of participating in this website?), it didn't go as well as I had hoped/planned. The Looming Weekend

Thursday, July 21st 2011

I know I'm supposed to look forward to the weekend, but I have to admit that I tend to dread weekends from a caloric/fat perspective. Wow, this conscious choice thing really works!

Wednesday, July 20th 2011

Kept my coach's words in mind all day today as I chose to go to the gym, chose to stick to my eating plan, chose to plan ahead for tomorrow, etc. Every time I was tempted to veer off track, I asked myself which option would propel me closer to my goals. That minor action really gave me clarity as to what I wanted to do, not just what I "should" do, an approach which (obviously, or I wouldn't be here) never worked for me.

Meanwhile, a question for anyone reading my blog. Now tha...

Conscious Choices

Tuesday, July 19th 2011

My motivational coach wants me to work on conscious choice-making this week -- consciously choosing to do things that will propel me towards my goals, and consciously choosing not to do things that will divert me from my goals and/or stall my progress. Fits right in with exercise and nutrition, doesn't it?

Today I chose to follow my pre-planned day of healthy eating. I chose to go to the gym this afternoon when what I thought I wanted to do was take a nap. I chose to plan ahead for tom...
