Is it wrong to buy your kids a Christmas gift mostly because it is something YOU want?
My boy, of course, has wanted the Playstation 3 since it came out. I told him "over my dead body" since he already has a PS2
AND a PSP. We had our usual Christmas-wish-list building "date." Everything on the boy's Christmas list was stuff he wouldn't have any interest in past the first few days of getting it. He's in that awkward age group where toys are losing their interest, but he's not quite old enough to take proper care of teen items.
I've been wanting a Blue-Ray DVD player. Each of these items cost $300 - $400 on their own. So hubby and I decided to go ahead and get the PS3 for the boy for Christmas, since it has the Blue-Ray technology built into it. I found a 15% off coupon code from dell.com so I ended up getting the 80GB PS3 for $339.99 plus free shipping.
Best Buy had a deal in the paper where you can buy two Blue-Ray DVD's for $19.99 each and get a free PS3 remote control. So I got two movies and the remote control for another $40--these three items are really more for me, than him, though.

GAWD I love a bargain! I'm going to keep my eyes open for a deal on some games I think he might like over the next few weeks--and possibly a second controller.
I have so much to do today so I better get back to it. I didn't get any exercise in this weekend, ate horribly, and I'm being lazy.

Have any of you ever utilized the services of a tanning salon? I have been debating it over the last few years because I seem to (increasingly) suffer from that seasonal mood disorder business and I've started to pick up some psoriasis in the winter. That is what the doc called it, anyway. Both of these things, I've read, can be positively treated with sunshine (or tanning beds). Seems like I could increase my vitamin D consumption and get same benefit, right?
Anyway, I checked out the tanning salon closest to my house today and bought one session for a test. It was very interesting. I was in the thing for ten minutes--per the recommendation of the owner who assessed my skin tone. Well, technically, he said 8 to 10 minutes and I opted for 10 because I can stay outside for hours without getting sunburned. I got sunburned in ten minutes. The parts of me that do not see the sun as frequently as the others got burned. Can you say OUCH! When I go outside in the summer to tan in the buff, I can usually do 30 to 45 minutes per side without sunburn. How do I get sunburned in TEN MINUTES under a
heat lamp???
It felt REALLY good, though. Before I realized I was sunburned, anyway. Now--not so much. This might end up working out for me, though. It did improve my mood...even though I was already in a good mood before I went. I felt even better when I left. Seems like it will be worth the $30 per month this winter as an experiment. Co-pays for medication to treat both the rashes and the psychological stuff would cost more and have worse side effects. Very promising.

Bring it on, Winter!!!

I too had a hard weekend. High on calories but today is another day. Can't help you on the tanning salon services though.
