View CELAWLOR's food & exercise for this day
I seem to really be struggling with my once-under-control-by-diet hypoglycemia. I developed that little gem while pregnant with my son and discovered that eating healthy and balanced meals and removing the simple carbs from my diet fixed it. It is rearing it's ugly head, again, despite the healthy diet. I was curious as to why this seems to happen to me during pregnancy and I discovered (upon researching it) that the placenta releases something that causes your pancreas to kick up it's production of insulin.
So, it seems that I may have too much insulin and not enough sugar in my system. I tried to discuss this with the midwife but it seems like she's not listening to me. She wants to test me for gestational diabetes

when I go in next month (which is really early, they usually don't test for that until month 7). She also said that it would be a good idea for me to go on a diabetic diet. I'm just NOT seeing the logic to that. The way to cure a problem of not enough glucose in your body is to reduce the amount of glucose you consume? The research that I read said to make sure you eat carbs that take a long time to break down so that your glucose levels remain more level and do not spike (causing more insulin to be produced). That makes more sense to me than not eating them. I'm so frustrated. I am seriously considering seeking out a professional in the matter. I don't care much for the sick and foggy-headed feelings that come with low blood sugar. It was so bad about 10 days ago that I just couldn't get words out of my mouth correctly and my friend told me that I was talking really slowly. That was way scary! And it happened so suddenly, too.
Well, gots to go get some lunch-a-burnin'! Tonight is football so we are having a large lunch since there will be only heavy snacking when we get back. It's too late to eat a meal at 8:30 pm and the boy cant have food sitting in his tummy in the 104 degree heat!!!

You know what is going on and can make the decisions. I would find additional help. Take care. only a few more months to go.

I think your leanings are correct and that the midwife is
:cross2: if she thinks a diabetic diet is in order.
