So it seems like I was a little premature in my excitement yesterday over not having to worry about induction. It seems that no matter how healthy mom and baby are, delivering a post-mature baby at a birth center with a midwife is prohibited by state laws. My midwife explained that my two choices were to consider their version of an induction at the end of the week, or be forced to deliver in a hospital and my care will have to be transferred to an obstetrician, who will immediately insist on an induction using medications.

Yep, I'm bummed. She needed to do a pelvic exam in order to determine if I was a candidate for the "natural" induction and she discovered that I am 4cm dilated and 90% effaced. That made her happy and she said I wouldn't make it to Friday. I'm not as sure about that one. I think that baby is going to stay in there until someone makes her come out. So, if there is no baby by 9:30 on Friday morning, I am to go in to the birth center and they are going to do the things they do to try to coerce this little one to come out. And she told me to plan on staying. I'm not going to be able to labor at home, like I had wanted.
