Monday, Jul 23 2007 - Weekends are Never Long Enough
View CWCEBMEY's food & exercise for this day
The weekend was good, but too short. All the gotta do stuff gets in the way with what I want to do. Last Saturday, I thought, I'll get up early and get some weeds pulled. But I woke up at 7:30 and began to read my book, then my mother called and we talked until 10:30. Then, I thought, just one more chapter and I'll start the day. At 11:30, I headed on up for the shower and now doing yard work was out of the question.
So, my hubby and I got dressed and went to my in-laws home to help them finish their basement. But first, we grabbed a cheeseburger from Wendy's and an ice tea. This is a big production, because neither one of us had had anything to eat, it was a 45 min drive to the in-laws and we wanted something to "tie us over." Of course, it took 3 tries for them to get our simple order of 2 jr cheeseburgers with mustard and lettuce and 2 medium ice teas correct. Each bag of food came without the cheese (until I had to get out of the car and walk in and watch them make the cheeseburgers.
So then we get out to Tooele, have lunch, then to their home where the real work begins. I am helping them out, but I'm not helping myself out with all of the stuff I need to do.
By 8:45 PM we're home.
What I wanted to do was pull some weeds, clean the house, get some laundry done, pay some bills, organize my office and read my book. That is one thing out of six.
So Sunday comes. . . I would like to do all of the above AND maybe catch a movie. But my mother calls to talk about her city taxes that she has to pay because of her business. Another hour and a half goes by talking with my mother and the temperature outdoors has risen to above 90. But, the day is not done. It is 10:30 and I still have time to do some of the things on my list.
My son comes over and says "I'm hungry". No one has eaten, so I get dressed and we go out. We bring the paper to decide what movie to go to and when to go. We catch the 1:00 Harry Potter.
Home by 4:30 and feeling queasy. But I do manage to pull a few weeds (there are still more to pull). Then come back in and do some housework, but the queasy feeling is getting worse. I decide to lie down on the couch for 15 minutes. I'm thinking the heat did not help. Still not feeling better, I take my sugars. . . 101. I get some water to drink. Still not feeling better. I eat a peach, and I begin to feel better. But I really don't feel better until 6:00.
So the weekend is over and I still have the bills to pay, the laundry to do, weeds to pull, and the house to clean. I did get to a movie and I did get to read my book (in fact I was reading until midnight last night). Which is why the weekend was good, but not long enough.
