Yesterday worked out great. I stuck to all parts of my plan. I hope and plan to repeat yesterday, today.

Last night, when I got home, I made spaghetti. I’ve been craving it. We’ve had a chill in the air in the morning and in the evening which encourages me to cook. I love this kind of weather. My spaghetti is one of the things my son loves too. It is sauce out of a jar, and I add stuff to it. I called my son, who is in the National Guard, and told him what I was cooking. He said he might be able to drop by, but asked if it would be ok to pick up the food and go. I said yes. Then he shared with me his good news. . . starting October 1st, he will be full time with the National Guard. I’m happy for him.

I’ve been struggling with the empty nest syndrome. I still have not gotten used to this almost empty home of mine. It is almost empty, because my hubby does live here too.

Well, I made the spaghetti for 4 people, ate dinner and then went to work out. I really was energized on that treadmill. I don’t know if what my son’s good news or the music. Either way, it was a terrific workout.

Then, when I got home, I had a message to call my son. I called and he needed the date of his last promotion. After he was done filling out his paper work, he said that he would come on over and asked if a few of his friends could have some dinner as well. I said yes!

I was thrilled to go to the store, pick up more stuff for the sauce, come home, and cook for my son and his friends. I have missed the noise in my home, kids slamming doors, laughter, music that I can’t stand blaring throughout the house, dishes in the sink (or on the couch). . . just the normal sounds of life in general.

Well, my son did bring over one of his friends from the National Guard. It was nice to meet someone that he works with. I packed up the sauce, French bread, spaghetti noodles, parmesan cheese a butter for him.

Later that night, my son called me to thank me for dinner. He said that the guys in the barracks really enjoyed the spaghetti and that he had to make some threats in order for him to have some. He said it was gone in about 10 minutes. Then he told me that some of the guys asked if I was married. I can’t tell you how good it made me feel to have my son call me. It was so very nice to have him home for a few minutes and then have him say “thanks”.
