I spoke with a friend of mine today. Since her birthday in March, she has lost 113 pounds. She wants to lose another 50 pounds. She is about my height and was about my weight. In March, she turned 50 and decided to do something about her weight. She joined a gym and got a trainer. She eats about 1500 calories. At first, she could not walk, do a minute on the elliptical trainer, lift a weight, or a sit up. Now, she works out 2 hours every day (except Sunday). She can go an hour on the elliptical trainer. She has over come co-workers trying to sabotage her. I told her that she is my hero, my inspiration. She showed me her skinny picture. It was just of her face, but I couldn't believe I was looking at the same person. The picture on her badge doesn't look like her either.

She said something interesting to me today. People are treating her differently now that she has lost so much weight. Some of the doctors that she works with have made the comment that they never knew she was such a smart person. In the back of their minds, these men apparently think she is out of control or not as smart as her counterpart thinner co-workers. Women have been jealous or resentful.

I grew up thin and now I'm fat. The only difference that I notice is men no longer flirt with me. . . but I'm older too.

This week, I've started using the BodyBugg. I've exercised 3 days so far this week. I'm still highly motivated to have a 1000 calorie deficit. I am still highly motivated to lose 7 pounds by Thanksgiving.

I showed my friend my BodyBugg. She is the only person besides my husband and my mom that I've shared this with (well the guy at the gym - my trainer knows). She understands where I'm coming from and has every bit of confidence in my ability to lose the weight.

This time, I will be successful in losing this weight.

Exercise is key to losing weight.
Exercise is key to managing my diabetes.
Exercise is key to managing stress in my life.
Exercise is key to my well being.

Yay exercise! You have already been successful. You can build on your success. You just have to keep practicing the lessons you have learned.
