Well, Thanksgiving is here. My goal was to lose 7 pounds by this day and be 141. Today, my weight is 246.6. So what happened.

Sunday night, I began to feel some pain in my stomach. I thought I was hungry. My husband and I went to dinner at my father-in-laws home. I ate salad and garlic chicken. I was still feeling hungry, so I helped myself to a little bit more.

When we got home, I was still feeling very hungry. So I had some turkey dogs. Then, I began to feel worse. I woke up at 12:45 AM, the pain was still there. Then, I woke up at 2:45, the pain was worse. I almost woke my husband up and take me to the ER. But, I was able to fall back asleep. 0600, I wake up still in pain. . . I do not work out. I go to work, make an appointment with my doctor and try to eat something. I see the doctor at 2:40 PM. He tells me to go to the ER.

Back to the hospital I go. It's 3:00 and the ER is not busy, so I get a room right away. By 9:00 PM, I'm being taken to the OR to have my appendix removed.

My surgeon tells me I'll be staying over night. In order to go home, I know I'll need to urinate, pass gas, and hold some sort of food down. After 4000 ml of D5, I have only 200 ml of urine in my bladder. They decide to bolus me with another 1000 of NS. By 11:00, I'm able to urinate 150 ml. . . .whoopie!

Wednesday, I stepped on the scale and I was 250. I know this is mostly water weight, but I can't help think that the 5% solution of dextrose they pumped me full of has turned to FAT.

This whole episode has me frustrated and depressed. I'm trying to keep my spirits up. My son came home for Thanksgiving. I am very happy about that. Someone else will have to do all the cooking (my husband, my son, and my son-in-law). Those are things that make me happy. But my swollen fingers, face, and feet do not.

It's all water! Give yourself a break ! You were AT your goal. You still are. You just have to heal to be able to see it again. Rest. Eat a lot of good protein. Pee. All that water will go away. Just make sure you keep logging and watching your intake. Everything will prove to be right on track. It will just take a little while to show up as you heal.
