My son called last night, well technically, this morning at 0030. . . . he is 11 hours and 30 minutes ahead of my time zone (Mountain). This was his 3rd call home since his deployment. It was great to hear his voice.
I'm glad the phone is on my side of the bed. My husband doesn't wake up easily and now that we have a new mattress and it is King Size, it would be more than a stretch to reach over and grab the phone.
David said that he was doing well. He sounded less tired, so I guess he is getting used to the routines and over the jet lag.
Saturday, at the gym, I ran on the treadmill for the first time in years. For Christmas, my husband gave me an Ipod. So I finally download my favorite CD (Hairspray) on the Ipod. Hairspray has a lot of get up and dance kind of music on it and 2 songs just made me want to kick up the pace and run. Both songs were about 5 minutes each. So for a 50 minute workout, I spent 10 minutes running.
Today, I did the same, only it was a 45 minute workout. The first song that I ran to, I ran at 4.0 mph. The second song, I ran at 4.2 mph. Maybe it is all those piano lessons that I took as a child, but there is something about music that makes me move to the beat. Many years ago, when I was a secretary, I used to put in some salsa CD and really let my fingers fly across the keyboard. So, today, when I was working out on the treadmill to Hairspray, I went between 3.0 and 3.5 mph, depending on the song that was playing. I skipped over the slower songs and then went back to those songs for my cool down.
