Today is my daughter's 23rd birthday. It is hard to believe that 23 years ago I was in the hospital having her. I always think about all the events that happened on the day she was born. Those are my memories that I enjoy.What an impact children make on a person's life. She is such a delight and joy to be around. I can say that now, because she is no longer a teenager. Her teenage years were probably the roughest. But now she is engaged and is planning her wedding for next year.

Weekends are Never Long Enough

The weekend was good, but too short. All the gotta do stuff gets in the way with what I want to do. Last Saturday, I thought, I'll get up early and get some weeds pulled. But I woke up at 7:30 and began to read my book, then my mother called and we talked until 10:30. Then, I thought, just one more chapter and I'll start the day. We had friends over for dinner last night. The four of us went through several bottles of wine (I think 3-4). When I went to add those calories into my food diary, you guessed it. I went way over.
It is hard to undo something like this. They left about 10:00 and I was not going to go for a walk to burn up those additional calories. AND, I really didn't think that it would put me over my calorie intake. I had said, "no, thanks" to the chocolate cake.

Well, for some reason, I have thought that this entire day was 7/11/07. But I also thought it was Thursday. I have even looked at the calendar several times today at work and thought it was 7/11/07. But when I joined my daughter in the cafeteria today, I noticed the menu said 7/12/07 - Beach Days and I said, oh that's tomorrow. And she said, "no that's today".It just goes to show that when I'm busy, chaos follows.

Last night, my family and I went up to the mountains for a picnic. We went up to Millcreek to check out picnic spots for the family July's Birthday party this Sunday. It was about 10-20 degrees cooler (and it was 100+ in the city). I think we've found place and I've got a meal plan.It was really nice to spend time with the kids, talking, walking, etc. We took the dog so she had a good time too. I think Sunday's celebration will be nice.
