View DAWNNSCOTT's food & exercise for this day
Today is so nice. The sun is shining. It's not too hot. I love it.
I'll probably take the kids to Barnes and Noble for a while. They love going there. Now that Aaron(5) is starting to read he loves going too.
I started to fill out lots of school forms this week. Kayla is starting Field Hockey. The first week of school. She's excited. We need to go shopping for a hockey stick. We have one but because Kayla is so tall( 5'6) we need to get a new one. We also gotta shop for a violin for her. She loves orchestra. I love to hear her play. This year in Middle school they need to purchase their own instrument. Jacob is going into 4th grade and he said he wants to play the violin too. The good thing is he can borrow the violin from the school. Thank God. Some violins run up to $400. UGH!!
I was just thinking how crazy it is that the schools around here(that we pay high taxes to) send home a list of items needed to start this school year. I just don't get why they don't buy some of those things!!! Last year in the beginning of school we spent $68 just for Kayla and Jacob. That did not include project stuff. It's nuts.
The last week of July my kids are doing a soccer camp. It's great! They have a blast. The camp is run by The Philadelphia Kixx Team. The Kixx team teaches the kids. Last year was our first year and when the kids saw the players they were so excited. They are very nice. At the end of the week they have an awards ceremony. It is so cool. They also give the kids 2 game vouchers. We have attended several games last year. We were able to go to the semi-finals. They won and we were so excited! Can you tell we are a super soccer family?
Jacob starts on his fall team in August sometime and Aaron starts in September.
My friend goes out and speaks to groups of people about healthy eating. She is having another seminar next week. They focus on children and adults. I was telling her about the petition Shaq has on his website for kids to sign to receive better, healthier school lunches. I hope that will help change our schools lunches. They are so bad! Here's hoping.
Well I hope everyone has a great day.

I
 bookstores too. I feel the same as you about how expensive the school supplies can be. I can't imagine how someone with a bunch of kids handles that! We always hit the back-to-school sales. It is so different now since my kids are both out of high school. My younger son is attending community college right now and thinking of eventually becoming a dentist. Since he commutes to school now, his school supplies include - a car and gas! Argh!

Dawn,
to me it seems like the school year just ended and you are already doing things for the new year. I don't have any kids, but the summers sure seem shorter....Have a great weekend...

I was running by your area again last night in my Thursday night races. Some day I might actually see you or Scott. (holding a water for me I hope, LOL).
