I did a C25K workout last night and my legs and knees are SCREAMING today. It was 110 out today and the DH wanted to go for a 2.5 mile walk after he got home from work. I knew I wouldn't make it, there's just no way. I am really feeling tired and exhausted so I didn't do any workouts at all today. Aleve has become my best friend. Is leg and muscle pain just something I have to get used to? Should I wait until I'm at a better weight to start running? Am I too heavy for running? I just don't want to give that up.

Thank you Uptown Girl. I've been doing C25K for about 2 1/2 weeks and my speed has gone up I just haven't moved past week one of the program. Which is fine...I'm cool with that. I'm walking too so I know it helps. Having someone else's perspective helps immensely so thank you for letting me know what your experience was.

your current weight is where I was last March (I'm currently down to 194) and we are very close to the same height; me at 5'10. I just took up running again; a hiatus from 2008. My legs were always sore and still are even from standing too long so yes, some of that comes with the territory.
:y:.
Have you run before at all? before I started back in 2008 I went on a turkey trot fully planning to walk the thing. for fun I tried to run it and ran much further than ever imagined. And I was laid up on my bed later that day practically crippled - LOL for about a week. Oh the pain. I was not in right shoes, for one thing and way overdid it
But no, you're not too fat to run. Just take it slowly. Let power waking keep you motivated and step it up to a slow for a short term and back to power walking. Your running probably won't be all that much faster than power walking at first but keep at it and let your body tell you when it's time to step it up to the next level.
Slow and steady - it will get easier and more comfortable over time.
