Sunday, Feb 1 2009 - I did it!!! 2 hrs 31 minutes!!!

View JANRED45's food & exercise for this day

Finished the Tallahassee 1/2 marathon in 2 hours and 31 minutes. That placed me 352 over all... and 26th in my age group. I will take it. All that matters is that medal I am proudly posting now in my photo that says "finisher". Yippee!!! I feel great. My knees are a bit sore, but my breathing was great, my energy consistent, and I ran (well jogged) the whole event. Awesome. I had a plan, I would only stop running at the aid stations, then I would allow myself to walk through drinking my Gatorade, then I had to get back to it. I felt great at the finish.

The Waterburger I ate without shame or remorse thereafter was the best I have ever tasted!!!!

The last week, I have not been faithful to CK, or myself. So starting tomorrow, it is logging it all, and continued training to prepare to blow out last years times on every race I completed. I can't wait for the Run for Wakulla Springs in March (I think)... I am going to kill it! Now that I have this fabulous long run behind me, I will be seriously working on weights and intervals to build my strength and speed.

Yippee!!!

Hey, don't sell yourself short . . . you sound like a "runner" to me, not a "jogger." I did my first 1/2 in November in Richmond. It was very emotional for me. The last 100 yards or so was downhill and I cried the entire way down! I didn't care - it was all about me!! I am doing another 1/2 at the end of this month -exactly on my 46 birthday. I can't wait. Anyway, congratulations, and as John Bingham from Runners World suggest we do: "Waddle On."

What an accomplishment! You deserve to be proud! You are going to do great in all your races this year. Your consistency with jogging this entire race inspires me to believe I can possibly be there some day too.
