Friday, Dec 30 2011 - The Health Hiatus is Over

View JECOLLIS's food & exercise for this day

Though I've been a member for almost 2 years now, and I've lost some weight here and there, I've not remained committed and have gained it back. There have been other health management challenges, yet there have almost been some significant improvements too.

I'm tired of feeling this weight on the front of me, sloshing around, feeling bloated, having to lift my belly in all directions to determine where I will put the next insulin supply line or continuous glucose monitor/sensor.

This past summer there were times I went riding on my mountain bike and I felt so good during and afterwards (well, except for a little neck stiffness). I felt accomplished to say that I had ridden 8-12 miles. Sadly, however, it was easy for me to find a reason to not go when I just didn't feel like it too.

Well, though it seems most everyone makes New Year's resolutions regarding fitness, especially weight loss, and many of those fizzle out within the first month or two, I'm going to try again. I want to be more active. I want to spend quality time with my partner. I want to feel more flexible and less exhausted. Yes, it will take work, and at times I'll need a kick in the pants to just do it when I'd much rather enjoy the comfort of my recliner, but I'm only 41 (soon to be 42) and I've got too much life left in me to continue to just lay around the way I have these past couple of months.

Happy New Year folks. I'm wishing the best for you, for me, for all of us.

Good for you! I know just how you feel, I tend to be a laid back (ok maybe lazy is the right word) kind of person and finding that motivation to get moving can be a real challenge at times. I have found that I feel a million times better if I just do it though, just make a plan and follow through. Good luck to you!
