Friday, Aug 27 2010 - Are you sick of my countdown yet? 33 days 'til surgery . . .
View KRIS319's food & exercise for this day
Yesterday I had so many good intentions. I came home from work and had a nutritious filling snack so I wouldn't starve and start binging like Wednesday. I had alot of great news on my back porch when I got home . . . the schedule for all of my pre-admission testing and surgery came in the mail and the new food processor so I can make yummy healthy meals like gazpacho and chickpea burgers (a healthier version of falafel) that was supposed to show up today showed up a day early. I'm glad I didn't pay for the one-day shipping now. That Amazon.com has it's act together.
But . . . if you've seen my diary from yesterday, you'll see it didn't all end that way. I knew we'd have to go to the mall last night to get a small gift for my husband's boss. And not just any gift . . . some Godiva chocolate. My husband's boss is muslim (should that be capitalized?) and he's always told him that chocolate is a good gift for a muslim because the can't have wine or alcohol. I don't know if it's really a good gift for all muslims or just Ben, but I told Bobby that if we were going to give him some chocolate it would be some GOOD chocolate. Bob is hoping that it will be a nice indulgence after the fasting for Ramadan. I hope he's allowed to eat it at night during Ramadan. Anyway . . . so Bob wanted to get dinner after shopping. I figured I'd just make a healthy choice from the menu where ever we went. Bob sees that there is a Maggiano's Little Italy at the mall and that's it. He doesn't see any other options.
Let me just say that I don't think there is any healthy choice on the Maggiano's menu. Yes they have excellent food. And we were having such a lovely evening eating on their patio that I deceided I would indulge as well. A small caesar salad and gnocci in a vodka cream sauce later . . . now I know why Maggiano's won't share nutritional information!!! When I ballparked the calories using a similar dish from another restaurant I was chagrinned at how many calories I had ingested. I didn't even know how to log the Godiva dark chocolate macaroon that I had for dessert. Whew! Could it have been worse? Sure it could have. I didn't have any alcohol or appetizers, although the Italian mojito Bob was sipping tasted mighty refreshing. I didn't work out ysterday because of lack of time. Did I do long term irrepairable damage to my new healthier lifestyle, probably not, but I am tempted to beat myself up. I'm not going to . . . I'm going to take my own advice and be gentle with myself.
In other news, the weather in NE Ohio is gorgeous today. I love that I have a job that allows me the opportunity to work from home some days, because coffee on the patio makes any work-related task a whole lot easier.
Namaste CK friends. Have a great weekend!

I usually end up skipping all pastas at Maggiano's and going for their entrees instead. Pricier, but cheaper in calories. But they are known for their pastas ......
