Well, it's 42 days until my surgery for those of you who are counting. Huh??? Yes, they gave me the wrong surgery date on the phone the other day so now the date is September 30. Whatever. I've been waiting eighteen months for this, what's another seven days. The upside is that now it's an 18 pounds to lose in 42 days challenge. I've been really lax about blogging for the past week or so and it shows. The end of last week I was doing so well and then the bottom fell out and I un-did all of my healthy choices with a bad weekend. So I'm back at it . . . 36 days away from surgery and my surgeon would like to see me at 330 by the time I go under the knife. That's 18 pounds in 36 days . . . 1/2 a pound per day loss??? Today has been such a struggle.I had the best weekend in a really long time . . . I got good news about my insurance for my surgery - I'm approved. I had a really nice two days off with my husband. I exercised on Saturday - something new - Pilates. I easily hit my calorie targets . . . wasn't even hungry. And for the first time in nearly a year I had a blood sugar reading below 100! All of my sugar readings were in the normal range yesterday.

I'm sitting here at the computer basically speechless. Except for a couple of text messages to my husband, I don't know how to act. I found out just now that my surgery has been approved by my insurance. I've been waiting anxiously for so long and now what I've wanted is here. I want to call the surgeon's office right now and set a surgery date. But maybe that's rushing it a little since I can only assume they won't receive the approval letter until sometime next week.Finally! Oh and...

So, I'm the first to admit that I am probably the most impatient person there is, but I was completely unprepared for the response I got this week when I called my insurance company to find out the status of the approval for my gastric bypass procedure. The nice CSR at the insurance company said, "No. We haven't received anything for you."
