Thursday, Oct 22 2009 - Weigh in day

View LEIDEN's food & exercise for this day

Today was my "official" weigh in day. I went to my doctors and got the stats sheet and all that jazz. Everything is looking pretty good.

Since my last visit which was 9/21, I've lost seven pounds. I clocked in at 182 than, I am 175 now and I'm quite pleased with that. Roughly 10 more pounds to hit my ideal weight, than surgery will remove about another 10 pounds due to excess skin. Which will have me around the 150-155 mark. Once that happens, I'll probably focus more on strength and toning than I do now - because than I'll have something to show for it. I used to strength train a lot more, but I tailed off because of the lack of visual result.

Bad reason I know, and I'm fine with it. Motivation is a pressure point for me, if I'm not seeing results, I'm not happy and lose interest. Right now, losing fat is my focus and I'm doing quite well.

I'll be going back to the doctor in under a month, so I'll probably give myself an unofficial weigh in at about the half way point just to tide me over.

I've been feeling pretty good. The mileage challenge on the forums has kept me pretty motivated to work out more often and consistently. I've also been pushing myself more; my body probably needed the shock anyway. Food intake has been pretty steady and I'm happy with how I've been eating, so all is well on those fronts.

Today was pretty cool. The CEO of a local bank was on campus for the day; giving speeches, talking to students, etc. Being apart of the Wall Street West program, myself and a select group of students had a chance to sit down and have a "board meeting" with him in private. It was a pretty intense experience. The dude has a pretty domineering presence, and is probably everything a CEO should be. Don't get me wrong, he's a really nice guy and awesome to talk to - but hes THERE. I don't know how to explain it. He gave us some good insight on the banking industry, the stock market, and how he feels about the government stimulus that was given to banks (his bank didn't take any bailout money and he explained why), it was very interesting. I'm pretty stoked I had the opportunity to take part.

Like my last blog post implied, my date went well and I'll probably hang out with this chick again in the near future. However, I don't see it going all too far since she has plans to finish school across the pond. But it's nice to dating again nonetheless. It's refreshing and I feel like I've had more confidence in general because of it. First date went well, got a second date, that means I'm awesome doesn't it?

Just gotta keep that ego in check, let it loose just enough to build confidence and I'm doing myself a solid.

All and all, life is good right now and I plan to keep it this way.

I need to extend thanks to Calorie King for reestablishing my motivation, giving me an outlet, and a sense of community. I like it a lot.
