Yesterday was my granddaughter's birthday party. My DIL's aunt is a chef and makes the best cakes and cupcakes I've ever eaten before and she makes them for all of the big events. I knew all of this before I accepted the invitation to the party. I also knew I would not be able to resist those sweets, so I told my family I was taking the day off from dieting.

Not another false start after all

Today was my weigh in day and I lost almost 2 pounds since last week - 11 pounds since I started this program last month. I do believe I am starting to notice small differences in how I feel overall. I am looking forward to 219 pounds, then 209 and then 199. That's the first real goal to get to the other side of 200 pounds. I'm increasing my walking distance and working on walking or some other workout everyday. I'm going to try the CK fitness test Friday to get a base to measure against. I gues...

Keep on going

I discovered to my delight that I have lost 3 and 1/2 inches from my waist in the past couple of months. That was so awesome! I am totally on my way. I know this is going to take a long time and I'm okay with that since my number one goal is to be healthy. As much as I would love to drop 5 pounds or more every week, I know that would be so bad for my health and I would just gain it all back as soon as I started eating again. At my age, I'm willing to take my time and do this right.

Mindgames

So I stopped at the store last night and bought some chocolate because I just couldn't get it off my mind. I made a point of buying dark chocolate pieces - they look like M&Ms. When I got home, I put the bag on the counter and that's just where I found it this morning. I didn't have to to open it and eat it. It was enough to know I had it and could eat it anytime. I opened it this morning and portioned out half a serving into a baggie to bring to work for "those times." Half a se...

In the dumps

I weighed in this morning and actually gained 2 ounces. Who counts ounces, right? Unfortunately my scale displays them so I count them. It isn't the 2 ounces as much as the lack of any loss at all. It's way too early in this journey for a plateau. This is the price I pay for not exercising at all for 3 days last week, reverting to my old ways and being a couch potato for two days this past weekend, and eating lasagna - twice.
