Yesterday was my granddaughter's birthday party. My DIL's aunt is a chef and makes the best cakes and cupcakes I've ever eaten before and she makes them for all of the big events. I knew all of this before I accepted the invitation to the party. I also knew I would not be able to resist those sweets, so I told my family I was taking the day off from dieting.

My wonderful son and DIL served fresh cut up vegetables and fruit, nuts, salad, and little sandwiches made with turkey and swiss. There was also chips and salsa and ranch dressing/dip for the veggies, but I was able to settle for a couple of bites of those. I really appreciated them having all of those good, healthy foods at their party and it was so great to see the little kids eating healthy food.

Finally, it was time for cake and I took 4 different cupcakes, 3 plates, napkins and forks and hunted down the family. I told them I couldn't decide which one I wanted so would they share them with me and they said yes. We divided each one into thirds and got to enjoy some coconut, chocolate, lemon and one that was banana, pecan and pineapple. They were all good and chocolate was beyond fabulous. I brought home 1chocolate, 1 mocha and 2 banana pecan cupcakes. I had half of one banana pecan last night with some milk and told everyone the chocolate one was mine. I gave it away this mornig because I came to my senses after a good night's sleep.

I'm not sure I logged everything I ate so I probably went over my calorie target, but I feel no guilt. I figured this is a lifestyle change, and life has those special occasions when we overindulge so it's okay once in a while. I'm back on track today.
