I am the captain of my own ship. I choose to be in control rather than letting circumstances dictate my life's course. However, I acknowledge that I may have to adjust my course direction from time to time due to unforseen circumstances.

When I woke up this morning I felt old. I was in pain and I was bloated and constipated. I took Tylenol, took a shower, and weighed myself expecting the worst because I felt so lousy and fat from being bloated. I wieghed more than I weighed Saturday - about one and half pounds more. No wonder I felt so bloated. I was holding water. The mystery was why. It wasn't my diet because I ate right yesterday. In fact I've been eating rght for a while now. The big change was in my meds. I have a prescription for a strong NSAID that I'm "supposed" to take up to 3 times a day. I have been routinely taking some kind of NSAID every 12 hours for a few years - along with a prescription for Tagamet for my stomach. I've also had heartburn and indigestion everyday for a while so I stopped taking the NSAID a few days ago. No more heartburn or indigestion. Last night I was in quite a bit of pain (actually a lot of pain) so I took it. I didn't take the Vicodin, choosing tylenol instead. I'm one who only resorts to the narcotic pain meds when everything else fails and I can't stand it anymore. I'm guessing the NSAID did a number on my body and I'm experiencing some side effects today.

Plan: Drink a lot of water and increase the fiber to flush out my system. Walk ever so gingerly to protect the hip that's hurting today. Remember to gently stretch throughout the day. Take tylenol when necessary, but keep count so I don't overdo it. Eat right and remember tomorrow is a new day. Maybe walk this afternoon.

(Yes, I am a Star Trek fan)

Steering this ship over the water. - Lita

We all have a choice. We can let the waves toss us and let currents take us where they will or we can take hold and steer our own ships.
