On this day in 1976 I got married to someone who became my very best friend and the father of my adorable twins. Today would have been my 36th anniversary if he hadn't died. He suffered a brain aneurysm on Superbowl Sunday in 1993 and he died after living in a comatose/vegetative state for 6 more years. It felt like I would grieve forever. But I didn't. For a few years I've been having lunch or dinner with my son and his family every week. He was a stay-at-home dad we had lunch mid week. After he joined the ranks of the employed, his "weekend" was Wednesday and Thursday so we would have dinner every Wednesday or Thursday. His wife missed having him at church with her and I'm sure he missed going to church as well. So I finally weighed in and I was disappointed but not discouraged. I'm only down one pound from last week and a lousy 0.6 pounds away from the 20 pound mark. 20 pounds. 20% of the weight I need to lose. Close but no cigar. Still it gave me enough incentive to say no to the donuts they were passing around the office this morning - even after I got a whiff. They did smell good, but I don't want or need any fried dough topped with sugar.

A few years ago I bought a T-shirt that I just loved. It arrived in the mail and was too small. The company didn't have it in a bigger size so I kept it. I would lose weight and be able to wear it - someday. Then I gained more weight and the T-Shirt went into a sealed bag with some other too small items. I unpacked it a week and a half ago.
