View LOVE2RUN's food & exercise for this day
1200 calories. 1200 calories a day keeps me healthy. Yes, i still have a rumbley tummy. Yes, I still crave seconds or a dessert after each meal. Yes, I have to stop eating before the comfortable, contented "stuffed" feeling arrives; but, 1200 calories keeps me fed for three meals and a snack. 1200 calories keeps me from getting dizzy or feeling listless, keeps my immune system ticking so i can fight off sickness or disease. 1200 calories keeps me energized. 1200 calories is all I need.
I compare my calories to budgeting my money. If I had $1200 dollars each day, I could easily blow it on junk and useless items, or I could spend it wisely, invest it in my future and my home. $1200 sounds like a lot of money, but just like calories once it's gone, i just want more. I would love to eat, eat and eat some more, but I can't. What I can do is budget my calories wisely. I can spend 1200 calories on cheesecake, brownies, cookies and pizza and still be hungry, or I can invest 1200 calories in lean proteins, fruits and veggies, whole grains and be satisfied.
It would be easy to buy the corvette, take lavish vacations, buy fancy clothes, but I don't. I use my money wisely. I'll use my calories wisely. Well..... maybe take a nice vacation once in awhile and have a small slice of cheesecake. After all, moderation in all things.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I am really excited to have the marathon as my goal for the next several months. I love the way you described your calorie budgeting. You are right by the way! Everything in moderation...that's the key. It's helped me lose close to 90lbs. Just curious what marathon training plan did you follow?

oh, for great inspiration check out Nadines's blog...she goes under the NMA5632
Nadine really works out and inspires us all to stay on our diets. She has taken me from no exercise to a two miler a day. As Amy13 and Wranglergirl have helped encourage me with the exercise. There are many runners here on CK to share your joy. Many are runner marathons. I'll introduce you to them.

Thanks for visiting my blog loverun. I needed to read your blog because in order to lose my last 25 pounds I have been putting off going to a 1200 calorie diet because I don't like that little hungry feeling. I love to cook and like to make gourmet dinners. Just last night I told hubby I need to simplify my dinners to just a protein, steamed veggie, and complex carb to get my meals down to 300 calories a meal in order to get my calories count down and ease the budget. My son in law who is a triathlete is often reminding me that food is just fuel and tells me to think of it as such. This is hard for me to do because I am a cook. Well, your blog today helped get me in the mind set to get there.
I see you are a runner. Check out my SIL web page : onurleft.com
he is a USAT trainer and does races here in Houston. The next race he is putting on is a half marathon at the Sam Houston Race track. I usually get to help out at these thing. I am a walker who used to be handicapped, so no running in the future for me, but I can now walk several miles a day and proud of it ! Keep up the work and that marathon will be within your reach. My daughter trained for just six months and ran her first one, of course she was 27 at the time. SIL ran the Houston back in Feb as a training run. Go figure !!!!!!!! Some people are just blessed in that way.
