View MAMAMARTINEZ's food & exercise for this day
I just avoided a brush with MAJOR awkwardness and resentment with the MIL. She called and said she got offered a 4-day job near our house next week and wanted to know if she could stay with us. I felt totally put on the spot and said yes. I don't know why she called me instead of my husband. Probably because she knows I have a hard time saying no. Anyway, I do NOT want her around when I go into labor or bring the baby home. I won't go into details, but both her and my mom crossed some major boundaries when my first was born, and I just don't need the added stress of that while I am in labor or caring for a newborn. Not to mention that I want my sister to be here when I am in the hospital. It will put me at peace. I will know that my girls are being cared for the way I want them to be, and my sister won't have to ask me a million questions about what to do or how to do it. She already knows the drill. It would have been majorly awkward to tell MIL, "Hey, I know you're here and all, but I'm having my sister come anyway." Then, after I got off the phone with MIL, I started feeling really put out that she even asked in the first place. We don't need houseguests right now; we have enough going on. Anyway, she called a bit ago and said the job got cancelled.
I am so relieved, but feel like a graceless jerk at the same time.

I have been busy, busy, busy. Nesting in overdrive. Here are some pics, as promised. I hope they load OK. I haven't done this before.
The dining room chairs were atrocious. It looked like someone had been murdered in every single one of them, so we recovered them.
My girls' room. The second pic is my husband's special project he did so that little girl would feel like the room belonged to her just as much as it does to big girl.
And finally, Baby Boy's nursery:
You also get a nice shot of my belly in this one. I was trying to get a better angle.

I just love the nursery, it looks so cozy and bright. I'm happy to hear she canceled. That takes a lot off your plate. The last thing you need is a MIL right now.

PS. I am so glad your MIL is not coming. I understand why you said yes, but I think the answer needed to be no. Next time you feel pressured, give an undefinitive answer to her, and then make your HUSBAND call her back and say no!!! It's HIS MOTHER!!!!!

Giant underwear: I swear by these: HIP HUGGERS (that is imprinted right on the label) L or XL by Victoria Secret, the spandex-y type material (not the cotton with the elastic bands). It's more like a modal (spell on that?) material. STRETCH, COMFY AND CUTE!!! Here's a big pic of them. Nice crotch shot, sorry!!

You have such a beautiful home
 You're not graceless, it was insensitive of her to ask to stay with you when you are so close to delivery and have other things to concentrate on.

What a relief! That's all you need is to go into labor over the stress of having her there!! You will be a gracious and loving hostess when you are able to. Now is the time to focus on your family and take care of your little unit. I'm so glad that worked out for you!

The rooms are AWESOME!!!! Each shot belongs in a decorating magazine (esp the belly one :laugh5
:). I think we have pics in our nursery that go with the animal ones you have in that last picture. I'm thinking it's the same artist! SO CUTE!!! We are in the middle of the renovations ourselves and it's total chaos. Nesting is a powerful thing! Have a fantastic weekend!
