Saturday, Jun 9 2007 - Dumb, Dumb, Dumb

View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day

I was hurrying back to the car yesterday to keep my time close to 100 minutes, even though not one of the six and half billion souls on this planet gives a rat's ass how long it takes me to haul my sorry self around Green Lakes State Park, and I took misstep and turned my foot. First dumb move.

I got home without any real discomfort but I did put ice on my foot while I spent some time online and didn't even think to mention it my blog entry. I did some odds & ends around the kitchen and then went outside to wash screens. As I was setting up I noticed my foot was beginning to hurt. But I didn't just stop and get it up and iced again. No. I went ahead and washed all the screens. Second dumb move.

And then I limped through dinner and a shower but by then I think it was as swollen as it's gonna get. Still, it was probably another dumb move to stay on my foot that much longer.

So I'm going to do the RICE treatment today and if I can't get out to the park next week or take advantage of the great weather they're forecasting to get the rest of the garden planted I swear I'll throw myself in front of a bus.

I'm sorry you're laid up. That is such a frustrating place to be. Be nice to that ankle and yourself by not rushing your recovery. I understand only too well the tendency to want to "push through" the discomfort and pain. It's usually pretty counter productive. The garden and the park will still be there when you are better. Though, I suppose in the garden, as long as you could keep the weight off of the ankle you might be okay.
