I didn't get to the park yesterday when the repairman called to say he'd be here before I could get back in time. (He didn't find anything wrong and couldn't explain why the freezer is running so much; he took his money and left.)

So in the afternoon, with my weight back in what I can call 'familiar territory', I made the first trip of the year on my town bike. It felt great to be back on a bicycle.

I love this bike. I got it last year when I finally accepted the fact that I was never going to be able to ride my road bike the way I once did.

My Koga Miyata is a beautifully crafted European town and country bike that I can jump on without any special shoes or clothes. It even has a guard that would keep my skirt out of the rear spokes should I ever actually wear a skirt. My husband gave me a lovely basket for the handlebars and I can do a lot of local errands with it since we're about a mile from either of two villages.

Off to the market this cool morning, 50º/10º and clear as a bell.
