Birthday Bread

Sunday, June 17th 2007

(I half expected CK to have changed my age today but I guess I'll have to do it myself...)

I started my birthday celebration yesterday with a couple of bowls of the first locally grown strawberries. The berries are fantastic this year with all the dry, sunny weather.

And after losing 10 pounds in 5 weeks on the CK program, I broke my 'bread fast' and brought home a loaf of Heidelberg's multi-grain farm bread. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful artisan bread makers in the area ...

We went to Doug's Fish Fry, an old local favorite, for dinner. Sat outside with the gulls laughing and I imagined we were on the Cape.

It's Always Something

Wednesday, June 13th 2007

The yard looks like a bomb went off. The house is more than 80 years old so every job involves at least one 'surprise'. This time it's the discovery that the old septic tank we knew about is actually piggy-backed on an even older dry well. At least now they don't have to excavate much to get the new, bigger tank in and there won't be a lot of dirt left over...

I was going to make some notes about my calorie/exercise calculations using numbers from CK and "You on a Diet" but I j...
