Trying to get back on schedule, I did my Sunday-go-to-meetin' hike this morning. It was more humid than I expected but even more significant was the fact that I did it following a day of low calorie consumption and I just didn't have a lot of energy on the uphill stretches.

The nice surprise this morning though was seeing a male redheaded woodpecker, the first I've ever seen at the park and the first I've seen in some time altogether. I also saw nice-sized flocks of juvenile orioles and a lot of juvie bobolinks flocking with red-winged blackbirds.

I thought the dry weather had done in the wild red raspberries but they came back with the recent rain and I nibbled my way along the trails this morning. Now if only the pickin' is good when I head down to Grisamore's on Wednesday.
