July 17 we ate two splendid cherry tomatoes from the garden, the first of the season and the earliest I've ever grown, primarily because this is the first year I've tried cherry tomatoes. One was a Sweetie, a small, red grape-like tomato that was, in fact, very sweet. The other was a nice size, golden yellow called Mirabelle, more acid than the red but very nice balanced flavor. Now that I know what they taste like I'm impatient to have more.

But if I get some red raspberries today I'll be happily distracted for awhile. It rained most of the night and it's damp and dreary this morning but it looks like I shouldn't have to deal with any rain if I get moving.
