The Garlic Guy

Sunday, August 26th 2007

After 15 weeks I still can't quite figure out why the pounds disappear when they do. Two weeks ago I really loosened up and didn't even record everything but dropped two pounds. Last week I recorded every morsel, kept to my daily calorie target and added 100 minutes of exercise to my daily average without losing one pound. I know there's a delay in cause and effect, at least with me, and I know hot and humid weather throws me off but it's still frustrating.

Meanwhile I happened to run in...

Oppressive

Friday, August 24th 2007

It was a good move, going to the fair yesterday rather than today; it sure wouldn't be much fun hanging out with the llamas in today's oppressive heat and humidity.

Bloomin' Onions and Llamas

Wednesday, August 22nd 2007

We're moving up our first jaunt to The Great New York State Fair to tomorrow to avoid the heat and humidity predicted for Friday. This presents the question of how count the calories should we have our annual bloomin' onion. I found a source that listed 1700 calories for one without the sauce but I knock off at least half of the coating so I'm not sure what to do. I'm tempted to pass on the bloomin' onion but I think The Mister would miss it and he certainly can't eat the whole thing by himse...

Ode to an Arch Sleeve

Tuesday, August 21st 2007

I saw a posting about plantar fasciitis the other day and since my weight loss has become obvious, people have been asking me how I've done it.

I would not have been nearly as successful if it weren't for these arch sleeves. One reason I gained the weight in the first place was because I had so much heel pain, in my left foot in particular, that I'd drastically reduced my walking/hiking/snowshoeing over the last few years.

I'd tried custom orthotics and all kinds of shoe inserts but n...
