The Deadline

Monday, August 13th 2007

A couple of days to decide whether or not to renew with CK 9 months early at the old rates. As of this moment I don't think so. I've just spent the last 15 minutes trying to upload a new photo. Phooey.

Brandywine

Sunday, August 12th 2007

The first Brandywine of the season, over one pound of diet-friendly goodness. With a good supply of wonderful homegrown tomatoes I should have no trouble sticking with it for the next few weeks.

My hike this morning was marred by the empty verio nest. A friend sent me an e-mail last night to tell me she found the nest empty Friday afternoon. Changes

Saturday, August 11th 2007

I've reached the goal I set for myself before I started CK, the weight range where I was when I turned 50. I still can't quite believe it. I assumed my blood pressure was low and thought someone could take a look at my diet and tell me if I ...

Hatchlings

Tuesday, August 7th 2007

It's warm and humid but not oppressive so my hike this morning was actually quite pleasant. On Sunday I came across a little nest of newly hatched birds but I didn't have my binoculars or my camera; today I had both so I was able to identify the adult, a red-eyed verio.

I hope they manage to stay in the nest. I'm surprised how active they are and without much in the way of control I can see how they could easily tumble out. Actually I thought I saw three on Sunday and today there were d...
