Ash Trees

Sunday, September 30th 2007

It was one of those days when I would have been happy to spend the entire day at the park. The weather was, to my mind, perfect and it felt good to be back on the trails after only one hot and humid outing last week.

The trees at the park are fading to different shades of pale green and the ash trees are the first to show any real color. I love the fall color of the white ash and several years ago I moved a volunteer from the back of the property to the front where it's done well but it c...

Playoffs

Saturday, September 29th 2007

I guess I took the week off. I didn't actually plan it that way but that's pretty much what happened. After working so hard to drop one more pound the week before without success, I just felt peevish about the dieting. That and the hot and humid weather that lasted longer than predicted.

I remember growing up in a near suburb of Cleveland and going to Indians' games. Times were so different then. One of the two major daily newspapers at the time, The Cleveland Press, gave out tickets to grade schoolers who got, I think, at lea...

Autumnal Equinox

Sunday, September 23rd 2007

No weight loss after a week of hitting my targets and even adding to my exercise. I'm committed through one more week, week 20, but then I don't know. The CK target is beyond my own goal of 147, so I don't feel like I 'own' it and I'm anxious to work out a maintenance program.

The weekend's weather has been appropriate for the equinox, warm and a bit humid yesterday, cooler and drier today. Jim's nephew is up from Philly for the weekend and we took him to the farmers' market yesterday mo...
