Saturday, Oct 20 2007 - Dental Rhymes with Mental
View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day
I had an early dental appointment yesterday. I'd put off my dental issues for the summer but now that we have some dental insurance I have no reason not to get started on the work I need to have done. Still I can't believe how much dental work costs.
Last December, about a week before I reinjured the muscle in my hip, I found out I had to have a big molar taken out after having had it crowned the year before without a root canal. The plan was to then start the implant process but I couldn't sit still for a couple of months because of my hip. All I wanted to do last spring was focus on diet and exercise so I just kept putting it off, walking around with a tooth missing.
The thing is, the missing tooth isn't really noticeable. But my top two front teeth are and yesterday it was confirmed that they're both cracked. For years I've been told it was just crazing but over the past few years the lines have become more apparent. I'd really like to have them repaired but it could turn into a real nightmare because if they try to crown them and find out the cracks go beyond the gum line they can't do anything except take them out. It makes me nauseated just to think about it.
Years ago I heard a dentist tell his assistant, "Remember, 'dental' rhymes with 'mental'." That it does.
Maybe I'll just go Milan and stop by the pasticceria to pick up a set of marzipan dentures for 6 .
