Sunday, Oct 28 2007 - Winding Down

View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day

No trouble staying up to watch the end of the baseball game last night. Gale force winds made such a racket I didn't even get much sleep when I finally went up to bed at 1. Calm and clear this morning but chilly with a possible freeze forecast for tonight. Time to wrangle my big pot of rosemary back into the house.

I was hoping the Rockies would win their first home game; I always despair to see the season come to an end regardless of the outcome.

By the time I got to the farmers' market yesterday things were winding down but the grower from whom I buy my quince put me onto another seller who still had some and I came home with another half-bushel. I've told Jim that if he really wants the quince he's gonna have to help because this much peeling would just be too hard on my hand.

After the market I stopped at Biscotti Cafe and picked up a couple of cappuccinos, some pumpkin cannoli and a couple of eclairs before going on to the hospital. My aunt looks great and seems to be making much better progress now; it really is amazing how no more than seventy of her eighty-two years shows on her face. The daughter of one her friends was also visiting so she, my cousin, my aunt and I shared the cannoli.

I ended up guessing on a lot of my food diary entries yesterday but I think it was still a better week than the past several.

I was hoping the Rockies would win all their home games! Plus the last two in Boston! :cry3: Then we would have had baseball in November. What a concept. Congrats on your better week!

Forest trees just have a certain lifetime. I will miss them , but you are right other garden items are in focus.

Hi Marcy - I hope you do get to revisit the maritimes - I don't think you will find much has changed (except perhaps in the big city) - it is still a lovely and very welcoming corner of the world. And - a road bike would be a fabulous way to see it! Our second trip, we took the ferry from Maine to Yarmouth and the hold was full of bikes and "bikers" anxious to take to the trails.

Cannoli, eclairs? I see that you like to live dangerously. :laugh5: Wish I had been there to share. What do you make with the quince? Jelly?
