Monday, Nov 12 2007 - Moving the Goalposts
View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day
After the lowest temps of the season, 21ยบ/-5, and a real hoarfrost in the morning, yesterday turned into a lovely fall day. I walked the Vista Trail and just as I was about to move off the bench I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was a beautiful young Northern Harrier sweeping the fields. I watched it for some time until it finally dropped into the grass and didn't appear again for several minutes before I finally left. Even though I had a camera I didn't have much chance of getting a good picture but I found a great one online with the coloration of the young hawk I saw.
Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing with the diet & exercise. It's gotten confusing what with moving the goalposts and changing all my records to account for the 8# my old scales didn't reflect.
I started out wanting, hoping to be able to lose 20#. I never, ever thought I would do that in 12 weeks so with a good part of the summer left I had no reason not to shoot for the goal CK gave me, a total loss of about 30#. Then I realized my scales were further off than I'd thought so the CK goal (and a BMI of 22) became a 38# loss and now I'm thinking, "Why not make it an even 40?". Last week I finally figured out how to change my CK target weight and now it's 'officially' 138. I think.
(I also finally changed the shape of my photo so it doesn't get squished when I post a comment.)
With 5 or 6 pounds left to lose in the coming winter weather I'm going to have to add some exercise and although I don't like the prospect of working with some kind of machine in a room with no windows I think I'm going to join the local Y. It wouldn't make much sense to me to get in the car and drive someplace just to exercise but the Y is adjacent to the shopping center with Target, a supermarket, etc. so if I combine trips...
And I can take the bus or maybe even walk at least one way if the weather is dry.
So that's the plan: get over to the park 3X/week whenever possible and the Y at least 2X/week.
And to stop 'nibbling' which I know was doing more of the past few weeks.

Gorgeous photo of fall trees! ~~~ Forty pounds ... that's my magic number also. Hard to adjust to the sudden addition of 8-pounds.
:cry2: ~~~ HOW did you change your profile so it doesn't get squished? Is the secret that it has to be square? I can't figure out why CK doesn't fix this. I don't remember squished photos before they added more features to the blog. ~~~
