Saturday, Dec 1 2007 - And So It Begins
View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day
First of the holiday gatherings and fine beginning it was. We went to the tree lighting in the nearby picturesque little college town of Cazenovia and then an open house.
Not having socialized much this past summer I haven't seen many of the ski patrol crowd since I've lost weight so I got a bit of an ego-boost. Julie, the gracious hostess, asked if I was still watching and if there was anything she could get for me. Jim and I had eaten something before we left the house so I was happy with a Guinness and an ounce of mixed nuts and Julie put together a small plate of cookies for us to bring home. Perfect.
I've been trying to plan for a much higher calorie get together on Sunday (gumbo!) but it looks like that may not happen with a winter storm warning in effect.
Since it seemed to run all day yesterday I left the refrigerator fan to it's own devices and slept upstairs all last night but I still don't feel particularly energetic this cold (21º/-6º) morning. I think I'll pass on the farmers' market unless Sarah calls and wants to go...

A hug for Julie for her consideration. It's 27*F here right now and I just stepped outside with the pooch with just sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I felt the chill but was not unduly uncomfortable. My body adapts better to cold than to heat but I am not foolish enough to think I could take a walk without throwing on a jacket. Stay warm.

Wow, 'gracious hostess' doesn't even begin to describe Julie. How lovely of her to acknowledge your diet and help to support you during the party. Social occasions are hard for me and if I get pressure from others, I'm a gonner. Stay snug during the storm. We're supposed to get snow today, too, with ice on top of that. I think I'll get my running done early!
