Monday, Dec 17 2007 - Getting Real
View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day
It's not gonna happen; I'm not going to reach my goal before the end of the year. The best I can hope for is to get below 140 and stay there through New Year's. Breaking 140 seems to be a real obstacle.
But I am over-the-moon with my current level of fitness compared to where I was last year this time when I made a funny move to avoid slipping and falling on an icy step and set off the chronic injury to my left periformis muscle which then went into spasm and got a death-grip on my sciatic nerve. I never ever expected to lose so much weight and make such big improvements in my diet and physical fitness, but definitely the biggest change is that now I know so much more and have so much more control.
We were lucky yesterday in regard to the storm. We got about 6 inches of heavy, granular sleet which was a real chore to move around, followed by 6 inches of light, fluffy stuff which we're about to go out and clear. The wind picked up late in the day but we never had blizzard conditions here. Lake effect squalls today.
I ate back more of my exercise calories than usual and enjoyed every one. I made the steel cut oats in the morning topped with créme fraîche and maple syrup, I had my extreme dark drinking chocolate while we sat in front of the first fire of the season and watched the football game in Cleveland, where they did have blizzard conditions, and finished the day with some wicked good lamb shanks braised in pomegranate sauce. Nice.
