Saturday, Jan 12 2008 - A Perfectly Bizarre Week

View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day

The temperature has not gone below freezing for almost a week. I found a mosquito in the kitchen sink the other morning. We had windows open for two days, sans screens and the house smelled like it usually does in May. All the snow has melted, even the deepest pile in the center of the driveway. I spent Monday and Tuesday outdoors doing yard/garden work, weeding!!!, removing undergrowth along the back property line and feeding the dreaded chipper/shredder...

I took time out from the yardwork to go to the park and Tuesday I took a box of shushi and book ("Troubles" by J.G. Farrell) and sat on the Vista Trail bench with the panoramic view north for more than an hour while the temperature hovered at 70º/20º.

Since I was already feeling so disoriented it seemed like an appropriate time to see "Sweeney Todd" and I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer for other people (they know who they are) to make up their minds about seeing this. I loved it. Johnny Depp is absolutely perfect and Tim Burton has created just the right atmosphere. Seeing Alan Rickman and Depp singing "Pretty Women" was worth the price of the ticket alone.

Thanks for the nod on Sweeney Todd. I love Johnny Depp, blushingly, all the way back to 21 Jump Street days. I'm making time to see the show this coming week. Oh, I saw your next blog photo. The paperwhites are gorgeous. I had best intentions to force bulbs this winter, but alas....
