View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day
I guess I should admit to myself that I'm actually maintaining my weight right now, not losing any of the last 4-5 pounds. I feel good about where I am so I think I'll just hold steady until the weather warms up and I can get out on my bikes and work in the yard & garden. I would like to get my BMI down to 22 before I turn 60 in June but I'll have time this spring and now I know how to do it.
I've come to this realization, in part because of the blood oranges.
We've been able to get some fabulous blood oranges this year. I took a dozen or so to Ohio last week and my mother and I ate most of them before I left. (She has trouble peeling them herself.) On Sunday I made the orange salad to go with the Canada goose breasts with porcini & casarecci.
One thing I've found hard about the weight loss diet is the amount of fruit I can get into the 125g limit the Nutrition & Exercise Manager sets for my carbs but with a maintenance diet I can add 50g to that and make room for blood oranges and a few apples and, really, how can that be bad for me?

Pardon me while I drool =P~ (if that doesn't display right, it's the drooling emoticon from Yahoo). I fail to see how oranges and apples are bad. Most of us suffer from the opposite problem--not ENOUGH fruit in our diets. Way to go, you! I'd love to try a blood orange just as a fruit someday... I've had them in stuff (uh, margaritas...) and I loved them... along with pomegranate. Why is good food so expensive????

What a lovely salad! The menu sounds worthy of a fine restaurant. Thanks for the recipe link. ~~ I never manage to keep the carbs in line, but if the proportions and calories are in line, I don't worry. ~~ Good decision on maintaining maintaining until the good weather comes.

New to blogging and this is my first entry. Just viewing blogs and came upon your recipe.
It looks very healthy. What is the difference between a regular orange and a blood orange?
