View MARCYINCNY1's food & exercise for this day
I was buying sunflower seed at the local feed store last week and picked up a flyer for their 'Chick Days' in April. Six Rhode Island Reds ("...one of the most famous of all time popular breeds of truly American chickens. A great dual purpose foul [flyer spelling] with outstanding production and qualities. They are very calm and a real pleasure to own work with. Rhode Island Reds lay large beautiful brown eggs." ) for $2.35 each but first I'd have to come up with a brooder and then some kind of coop... I'm not sure what our zoning restrictions are; I think they made some changes since we bought the property and I don't know if we're 'grandfathered' or not. I don't think my neighbors would care as long as I don't keep roosters. I don't know about this year but next year?

Indeed...what about a few chickens? I hope your zoning allows it. We are unable to here and would have to put the coop out at the farm, but then would have a 20 minute drive each way to care for them. I think I'll have to wait a few more years. Still, engrossing idea and I can't wait to hear what you decide.
