Mary Oliver is tonight's speaker at the Gifford library lecture. Many of us who have attended the series over the years don't generally enjoy hearing a writer just read their work except for the poets. Poetry is meant to be read aloud and to hear it in the poet's voice is almost always a treat.

The weather is fabulous; lots of the little full-sun icons in the weather underground forecast. I'm actually going to be able to get out on my town bike this week, besides getting in the rest of a first planting in the potager.



The fresh ramps arrived yesterday and they look great. As it happens we were obligated to have dinner out last night and Jim has a dinner meeting tonight so we won't be able to tuck into the ramps until tomorrow.

The ramps look good at the park too but there's not enough to justify harvesting them, not to mention it's illegal .
