Magnificent moonlight and the first frost last night. I expect the eggplants that were still looking so good yesterday will be a sad sight today.

A good outing at the park yesterday after yoga/Pilates in the morning. I don't know why but I was absolutely elated to see the cairn had been rebuilt and I found a small stone to place on top making it eight stones high. I also noticed for the first time another cairn further down the trail made of fewer, larger stones. I'd love to know who's building them but then might take away from their appeal.

I was hoping to make this a good week of diet & exercise but it looks like rain all day so I won't get to the park or out on a bike. I wish I'd made a bike ride a priority yesterday. Phooey.

We'll probably be seeing the peak of the fall color today with rain coming tomorrow. Yesterday was beautiful, not a cloud in the sky, and there were lots of people walking around the lakes at the park.

It's the time of year when I stock the larder, or more accurately, the freezer. My purveyor of grass fed meats, Wendy of Sweet Grass Farm, only has chicken for another month or so and then before winter the last beef cows, pigs and lambs go to the butcher. Except for the poultry, Wendy has meat all year but not all cuts so I try to plan ahead for things like leg of lamb, lamb shanks, pork chops and several of her broilers.
