If you're living a life that, in effect, makes maintaining your health and wellbeing just one more source of stress, what exactly is the point of that life?
Another advantage I haven't mentioned here before, that's been crucial in my weight loss effort is my yoga & meditation practice.

A nice steady rain this morning, just the kind that will settle the soil and the seeds before any heavier rain comes along. A good start this week for the potager: favas, cime de rapa (five varieties in the hope that I'll find one that doesn't require blanching), peas, mesclun, arugala, mache, bunching onions, Easter egg radishes, spinach and beets and two more beds tilled and ready to sow.
I miss being able to get out there today but I can use the break after five days of working...

Like a lot of folks I'm dealing with all the leaves that dropped late last year and then got covered with early snow. I'd rather be working in the potager but the leaves really have to be cleaned up. Still it's good weather and good exercise.
Meanwhile I wasn't paying attention and the first tomato seedlings–especially the Sweeties–were already too tall for the cover and getting leggy this morning. They may not look like much now but in a few months...
Now I have to figure ...

Last week the SU men's lacrosse team was ranked no.1 for the first time in a while and yesterday they beat Princeton here at home with some exciting play. They had a big crowd, about 6500, but it's still a low-keyed event compared to other sports and the game itself is a pleasure to watch with lots of speed and strategy on a big green field, even if it's under a goofy dome here in Syracuse....
