Llamas?

Thursday, August 23rd 2007

Maybe one reason we're so taken with the llamas is that we haven't had any animals of our own in a long time now. And the main reason is that since we haven't had any dogs in particular the property has become something of wildlife hangout and we get a different kind of pleasure from that. And no vet bills.

The past few mornings at least two does and their fawns have been in and around the yard. A couple of times I've stepped out and almost gagged on the strong smell of 'livestock'.

Bloomin' Onions and Llamas

Wednesday, August 22nd 2007

We're moving up our first jaunt to The Great New York State Fair to tomorrow to avoid the heat and humidity predicted for Friday. This presents the question of how count the calories should we have our annual bloomin' onion. I now have 10 pounds to go to reach my personal goal. 10 pounds or 6 weeks, whichever comes first. I'm ready to be done with this and I want to establish a 'maintenance' diet before the weather changes.

And the weather is beginning to change. The birds know it. The hummingbirds are chubbing up at the feeders and the agastache rupestris. ...

Now They Tell Me

Saturday, August 18th 2007

I guess it's my own fault; if I'd done CKU at THE BEGINNING I wouldn't have been confused on this point.

"The general recommendation is that 40-60 percent of your calories come from carbohydrates. At 1200 calories, you should aim for around 40 percent (120g per 1200 calories), and at 2500 calories, aim for around 60 percent (345g per 2500 calories)."

So it turns out the targets that the CK Diet and Exercise Manager have set for me are accurate and the note I get in the online...
