Blue Waters

Thursday, February 21st 2008

The 3-4 feet of lake effect snow stayed north of us yesterday and Jim 'only' got into about a foot of it on his trip to Lyonsdale. The band has dropped south this morning and it's snowing here with a likely accumulation of 3-4 inches.

After a dinner of walleye and some fabulous little Dutch yellow Pee Wee potatoes, we watched "Respiro" last night, one of the best Valentine's Day presents I ever gave myself and the perfect film this time of year when images of blue water and warm ...

How Cold??

Wednesday, February 20th 2008

Another sunny morning here but I can't stop thinking about the weather in the northern plains and central US.

I was actually looking for a picture of a sunny beach to post today but then I found another stunning winter photo by Vicki in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. http://www.wunderground.com/wximage/imagesearch.html?handle=Vicki&handlebox=1&submit=go

Sunday, February 17th 2008

I was buying sunflower seed at the local feed store last week and picked up a flyer for their 'Chick Days' in April. Six Rhode Island Reds ("...one of the most famous of all time popular breeds of truly American chickens. A great dual purpose foul [flyer spelling] with outstanding production and qualities. They are very calm and a real pleasure to own work with. Rhode Island Reds lay large beautiful brown eggs." ) for $2.35 each but first I'd have to come up with a brooder and then so...

My Valentine

Saturday, February 16th 2008

We've never been much for Valentine's Day but the past few years I've used the occasion as an excuse to buy myself a dvd. This year I got "Ratatouille" and I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to watching it tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile I haven't been to the park all week and with the mixture of sleet, snow and, beginning tomorrow, rain I don't know when I'll be able to get there. At least I'll be shoveling the driveway today for the second time this week.

I...
