The First Hurdle

Friday, October 23rd 2009

I'm running on fumes and everything aches. I felt like I was racing the clock yesterday, which I was, so I spent over seven hours working in the yard & garden. Everything is in pretty good shape (only the garlic left to plant in a prepared bed) but now I'm in a tricky spot and today is going to be a test of will.

I didn't see any change on the scales this morning so I don't have the motivation that a new low would have given me and I'm tired; typically this is when I'm tempted to curl u...

Food Inc.

Thursday, October 22nd 2009

If anyone is looking for another reason to think about what they're putting in their mouth – and the mouths of their children – they'll find it in "Food Inc." To the Task

Tuesday, October 20th 2009

No question about burning calories today. This is shaping up to be the best opportunity I've had, and may have for the season, to put the garden to bed and do general yard clean up. We see Himself (in the photo) almost every evening and he was out there again this morning. I hope I'm not gagging on the smell of deer all day.

Wacky weather. Freezing temps yesterday morning and already above 50º/10º when I got up today.

Another Reason

Monday, October 19th 2009

Of course there’s more to my regaining weight than ice cream and I think it’s important for the future that I make an effort to examine what happened.

One thing I’ve learned is that changes around me can have a bigger impact on my habits than I’d realized.

Within a month after I let my CK membership expire in May 2008, my husband, who had been working from home for almost ten years, moved to an office downtown. I had the house to myself again and all sorts of freedoms restored; I ...
